The Computer Science Department participates in the University Honors Program, Midway Honors Program, and College of Business and Technology Honors in Discipline Program. Both freshmen and continuing students are eligible for these programs.The University Honors and Midway Honors Programs are administered directly by the Honors College and students should contact the Honors College for more Information. The Honors in Discipline program is administered in the college and department, and the information on that program follows.

About Program
The program is designed to both enrich the college experience, and financially support its students. Tennessee residents who participate in an Honors in Discipline(HID) program may be eligible to receive an HID scholarship covering full tuition and fees for a maximum of eight semesters of study, contingent upon maintaining eligibility. Out-of-state students who participate in an HID program are eligible to receive an out-of-state waiver, contingent upon maintaining eligibility.
Students in the program enroll in a few special honors courses, and honors sections of others and complete a senior thesis in an area of their own interest. The thesis allows them to work closely with a faculty member on a research topic. Several of our students have gone on to present their research at conferences. This is a significant achievement by an undergraduate student.
