CSCI 1102 - Introduction to Database Applications

We are surrounded by information and the sheer amount is growing exponentially. In order to effectively make decisions, identify trends, organize, and otherwise make use of all that data we need a tool. Did you know that there are telescopes that are capturing images at such a rate, no human is actually examining them? They go into a searchable database, and are only examined when a human enters the criteria of some subject of research. CSCI 1102 will give you the ability to make sense of all that data in your life and teach you a tool that will help.

Access 2007 is just such a tool. You can create the components to enter, store, manipulate, organize, and retrieve many types of data (text, numbers, calculations from stored numbers, hyperlinks, pictures, video, audio, etc.)

You will learn how to utilize data from existing databases, how to import data sets from almost any source (most often the case in business) into a new database, and how to make use of it. You will learn to produce professional quality reports from data sets you have manipulated. You will learn how to create surveys and deploy them to the web so that they will send the results back to a database you have constructed.

If you are looking for a class to help you get organized and produce results from that mountain of information, then this is the class for you. Sign up today!
