Course Goals and Objectives:
- Learn the basics of database design and applications.
- Become comfortable with the thought processes for relational database design.
- Learn to use a relational database application (Microsoft Access 2003).
- Design and construct a database of your choice using Access 2003.
- Enjoy learning something new! It will open lots of doors.
Course Requirements:
Attendance, participation, homework, a zip disk or other portable media, and some effort from each of you will make this an informative and "painless" learning experience.
Students are encouraged to work together, discuss problems, and help each other out. Each student knows the difference between doing your own work and copying from someone else. If you are lost and need help, please see the instructor.
Probable Course Topics:
Database concepts and design, forms, tables, queries, reports, macros, modules, sorting and filtering data, database management (reliability and integrity), importing and exporting data, using web data and linking databases over the internet.
