Proficiency Test or Challenge Exam

The proficiency test and challenge exam are provided for those students that have developed the skills presented in CSCI 1100 through job training, previous education, and/or experience. The applications package used is Microsoft's Office 2007. A passing grade will complete your obligation for CSCI 1100.

The choice of which test you take depends on your individual circumstances. If you take one, you cannot take the other, and you only have one attempt to pass.

Proficiency Exam

You may ONLY take the proficiency test if you are enrolled under the 2004-2005 or newer catalog.
You may not take the proficiency test if you have taken the challenge exam.
You may only take the proficiency test one time.
There is no charge to take the proficiency test.
The proficiency test is Pass/Fail and provides no credit hours on your transcript.

Challenge Exam

You may ONLY take the challenge exam one time.

You may not take the challenge exam if you have taken the proficiency test.

There is a charge of $45.00 ($15.00 per credit hour) to take the challenge exam.

The grade you get on the challenge exam will be the grade entered on your transcript for CSCI 1100.

The challenge exam provides three credit hours on your transcript.

The challenge does NOT count as hours attempted.

You may not be enrolled in CSCI 1100 when taking the challenge exam.
