College of Public Health

When the ETSU College of Public and Allied Health planned to reorganize into the College of Public Health, they also planned to create a new website. Since the Public Health program was growing rapidly and the students come from a variety of backgrounds and many are international students, the site needed to be as easy to navigate as possible. The ETC was enlisted to plan and test the information architecture of the new site.

In the Summer/Fall 2007, the ETC worked with the Public Health administration to map out a proposed architecture based on student input from focus groups. The ETC built a prototype of the navigation and performed a usability test with domestic and international undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty. The project deliverable was a report of usability findings that confirmed what was successful in the navigation and proposed changes for page names and organization that were unclear to users.
