Brief Job Description
Ms. Novak works under the direct supervision of the Department of Computer and Information Science (CSCI) Chair to promote and manage the Emerging Technology Center. As Director of ETC, she manages the day-to-day operation of the Center as well as acts as the marketing and recruiting person for the Center.

Brief Biography
Ms. Novak attended Virginia Intermont College in the late 60s, then took a hiatus from academia to raise a family. She completed her undergraduate studies with a B.A. in Mass Communications from ETSU in the the mid-80s and earned a M.S. in Technology from ETSU in 1999. While working on her Master's degree she did free lance web design then began working at Siemens Energy and Automation as a Web Designer in 1999. In 2000 she started the NovakGroup, a web development company.
Although she loves her job at ETSU, Ms. Novak craves any activity that takes her outdoors. Her favorite pastimes include gardening, fly fishing, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, and occasional mountaineering. She has a passion for travel which has taken her to many countries in Europe and Central and South America. Her immediate family includes two grown children, a daughter-in-law, a precious grandson, and Oliver and Hank—a very special dog and cat.
