Brief Biography
I live in Kingsport, TN where I have lived all of my life. I attended Cedar View Christian School from Kindergarten through high school. I graduated high school a year early and started classes at ETSU two weeks later. Not knowing what to major in, I asked my Dad what he would suggest and, you guessed it, he said Computer Science. At the end of my undergraduate career, I was persuaded to participate in a new program where seniors taught a section of CSCI-1010 (the old 1100). I did it, under great protest, but I am very grateful that I did. Who knew I would love teaching?! After all, it was the last thing I wanted to do. After graduation I continued at ETSU teaching part time, as well as teaching at Cedar View, while working on a Master’s Degree. I was eventually hired full time and here I am now…15 years after I first discovered the Computer Science Department as a student at ETSU. Currently, I am teaching a variety of classes and serving on various department and university committees around campus, including serving as the Director of the Using Information Technology Intensive Program at ETSU. I am working on a Ph.D. at Nova Southeastern University and hope to be called Dr. Price before too long!
My husband, Scot, and I live in Kingsport with our two children, Ashleigh and Noah. Scot is a magician and Ashleigh is his assistant. Occasionally I get roped into helping. I should also mention that I can make a mean sub – I have been known to help my parents out at Jersey Mike’s in Bristol, VA on rare occasions. I refuse to use the slicer, however, because I would like to keep all of my fingers intact. I am a lifelong LA Dodgers fan. Baseball is a big part of our lives. It is the reason that Scot and I met in the first place. I also enjoy watching the TN Titans – but, for the record, I am not a UT fan. As a family, some of our favorite places to visit are: the ocean, DisneyWorld, Cooperstown NY, the Wilds in NC, Pennsylvania Amish country, Washington D.C. and Gatlinburg. I like antiques, clowns and anything Raggedy Ann and Andy.
