Brief Job Description
Robert provides technical and systems support to Computer Science faculty, staff and students, and supervises approximately 12 student workers and technical graduate assistants. He is responsible for managing three computer laboratories and a wide variety of software and hardware.
In carrying out these duties, he is responsible for: evaluation and implementation of emerging computing technologies as they relate to an academic, research-oriented setting; operating system installation, customization, account maintenance, and security on a variety of platforms; management of FTP, SSH, Mail, and WWW servers; hardware and software installation; partnering with OIT and contracted support organizations; providing help desk services and in-service workshops; managing and evaluating student workers and supervision of technical GA research work; providing accounting for lab use; and, managing departmental budget related to software and hardware acquisition, maintenance contracts, and computer supplies.
Personal InformationRobert and his wife Kim have two dogs and a cat. When he's not busy keeping all the computers and systems working in the College of Business and Technology, Robert enjoys home theatre, movies, travel, watching sports (especially the Yankees, Braves, Colts, Redskins, Vols) and hiking.
