Gene Bailey gets unique Father's Day Gift
Our own Dr. Gene Bailey received a unique Father's Day present from his daughter, Anne Wydler, this year. She arranged for him to create his own ice cream recipe at a popular ice cream store, Moorenko's Ice Cream Cafe, in McLean, Virginia. His creation quickly sold out. The store's owner, Susan Soorenko, wrote in her weekly advertisement to promote the flavor of the week,
"Our flavor of the week is our first created by a guest ice cream chef. Gene Bailey, visiting from Tennessee, received the gift of ice cream creativity from his daughter, Anne, for Father's Day. His ice cream dream is called Bailey's Bittersweet. Named for his granddaughter, Bailey, it's Bittersweet Chocolate infused with Strawberry, and, frankly, quite wonderful! By the way, there is no Bailey's Irish Cream in Bailey's Bittersweet.
We had a wonderful time working together. Anne was on hand with her camera to document Gene's adventure. You will love this flavor. Come in and try it. Let me know what you think and I'll forward the reviews to Gene. Try this one in a milkshake...I will!"
In her advertisement the following week, she writes,
"Last weeks flavor, Bailey's Bittersweet, which was created by Gene Bailey, disappeared in a flash! Well done, Gene! It was excellent!"
Dr. Bailey brought home a couple of quarts to share with colleagues and friends here in the department! Awesome!!
